When the village shop was due to close in 2012, the community felt strongly that West Down could not do without this vital community resource. A voluntary committee got together, successfully achieved grant-funding and opened the shop as a community-run not-for-profit. Eight years on, it remains an important part of village life.
We pride ourselves on providing a wide choice of general groceries; freshly made bread, pastries, pasties and pies; locally sourced meats, fruit and vegetables; as well as a range of wines and spirits and local beers and other essentials.
EMAIL US your shopping list and we will create your order ready for you to collect!
The shop is looking to stock all local produce to reduce food miles and lower our carbon footprint. We are looking at our packaging and hoping to reduce our plastic use in the future. We can also do orders for holiday lets and local camp sites. The shop is run by manager Sue Bond and the rest is done by committee members and volunteers. We welcome any one who would like to join us to volunteer a few hours a week!
Have a look around the shop from the comfort of your own home! Please bear in mind that this is by no means a complete list of what we have available and there may be times when an item has sold out or is unavailable.
If you don't see what you are looking for, let us know and we will do our best to get it in for you!
You are very welcome to call ahead of your visit to check what is available on the day. Or let us have your shopping list and we will get it all ready for you to collect!
